Juicy Cover Letter Secrets to get a Job in London, Part 2

Hot Cover Letter Tips that make you Green with Envy!

Welcome to Part 2 of this special info packed article series.  In Part 1 we covered all the criteria that you must avoid when creating your personal and powerful cover letter.  In this article we’ll reveal the most effective tips to writing a great Cover Letter.

It is absolutely essential to apply a style of writing which grabs the readers’ attention.  This “Attention Grabbing” recipe will yield great results when applied correctly. Remember to note each point as well as the overall structure of the letter and follow it directly as it’s laid out below.

  1. Immediate Introduction – Make sure that you know exactly who is going to read your letter and enter their name and details at the top of your letter. As pointed out in part 1 of this article series this little detail should be accurate whereas getting it wrong will leave a bad impression.
  2. The Juicy Opener – The famous quote “first impressions last” can definitely be applied here as its one of the first things the employer will read so it should be eye catching, fresh and powerful.  Ideally it should only be around one line or so but don’t overdo it.
  3. Show your Passion – Show that you will be an asset to the company by using 1 or 2 examples of your expertise, skills, experience or knowledge and demonstrating what problems could be solved within their company.  This approach will reveal your initiative as well as your passions and how that could be applied in the workplace to its best effect.  Be Bold!
  4. Show that you’re a Go Getter – Demonstrate that you can take action through initiative primarily and then request action from the potential employer.  Lay this paragraph out in around 3 or 5 lines and remember to keep it to the point.  In laymen’s terms demonstrate that you can take action and then request it.
  5. Seal the Deal – This is where your aim is to make a great “Closing Statement” that will sum up and sell your skills to your future potential employer.  Make it count and remember this paragraph is very important.
  6. Your Silent Weapon – The use of this little technique is highly overlooked and you will be astounded when you see the power of applying this.  Introducing P.S (Post Script), when used effectively it’s sometimes the first thing that is read in your letter.  Use with caution and don’t overdo it, the results can be amazing!
  7. The Exclamation Mark – If you apply this carefully it can be an extremely powerful tool.  Be sure to use it only at points where they will have the best impact like in your opening or closing statement.
  8. Using Bullets and Numbers – This technique must be one of the most effective principles applied in writing because of its outstanding results.  Not only does it grab the readers’ attention but it actually makes them read the whole letter as it’s meant to be.  Keep it short and make it powerful.

Once you’re finished with your Cover letter you need to send it out.  Remember don’t get too stressed or worked up if you’ve not had any feedback regarding your applications, the go-getter approach would be too send a Follow-Up letter after a week or 2 if you haven’t received any kind of reply yet.  This gives you a second chance at getting your foot in the door.  Lastly when you’ve finished any Job Interviews it is highly recommended that you send another Follow-Up letter but this time make it a Thank you letter, stating that you appreciate them giving you some of their time and energy.  This step is quite unexpected and will be received with great surprise, and therefore giving you a great advantage over your competition.
